Viacom-owned cable network Spike TV has ordered the live carpentry series Adam Carolla and Friends Build Stuff Live from New York- and LA-based Embassy Row Productions.

The 10 x 60-minute series – which will mix an interactive talk show with a build series and live comedy show – will feature the renowned television, radio and Internet personality (pictured) as he takes on building projects with celebrity friends in need of his carpentry expertise.

Each episode will focus on Carolla’s woodworking skills as he works side-by-side with various celebrities and engages with fans via social media who have their own carpentry questions.

Adam Carolla and Friends Build Stuff Live, which is slated for a 2017 launch, will broadcast live from Los Angeles and include pre-taped segments that display the prep-work that went into that week’s project.

Carolla will also serve as executive producer alongside Embassy Row Productions’ Michael Davies.

Carolla currently hosts podcast series The Adam Carolla Show, and in an episode from earlier this week he stated that Catch a Contractor, his previous series with Spike, would not be returning for another season. The news release announcing the upcoming project states that Carolla “recently served” as host of the series.

He has previously starred in and produced such television series as Comedy Central’s The Man Show, Crank Yankers and MTV’s Loveline.

Sharon Levy, executive VP of original series; Chachi Senior, senior VP of original programming; and Justin Lacob, VP of original series, will oversee the series for the network.
