The April 4 premiere of The Story of God with Morgan Freeman on National Geographic Channel gave the net its highest total viewership in Live+3 for the year to date.
According to the network, Live+3 ratings show that 3.5 million total viewers tuned in to the miniseries’ premiere, garnering a 3.0 household rating and a 1.1 in P25-54. That makes the premiere the fourth most-watched telecast to date for the network.
The show site, meanwhile, racked up 800,000 page views leading up to the premiere, resulting in the most traffic for natgeotv.com and making it the best digital show extension for the network to date.
The program launch was the first global tentpole event making use of the newly-established National Geographic Partners’ social media reach, with the company reporting that social promotion for the project reached 39.7 million people, and drove nearly 500,000 engagements in the lead-up to the premiere.
The six-part series features the acclaimed actor as he travels the world to discuss belief in a supreme being with those of myriad faiths.
