Discovery Networks Sweden CEO Jonas Sjögren (pictured) has stepped down from the role after nearly 10 years, with Discovery Networks Norway CEO Harald Strømme set to replace him on an interim basis.

In addition to his duties at the firm’s Norwegian division, Strømme will assume further management responsibilities in Sweden where he will focus on expanding the company’s opportunities to “build additional scale and relevance” among Discovery Sweden’s consumers and partners.

He will report to Dominic Coles, COO and CFO of Discovery Networks Northern Europe.

As CEO of Discovery Networks Sweden, Sjögren oversaw the integration of SBS Media Group Sweden’s portfolio following Discovery Communications’ 2012 acquisition of SBS Nordic from ProSiebenSat.1 Group for US$1.7 billion (€1.32 billion).

Prior to Discovery, Sjögren headed the SBS Swedish business between 2006 and 2013 and also held various leadership roles within SBS broadcasting.

“After 10 years as the CEO of the business and under three different owners, it is time to explore new opportunities,” said Sjögren in a statement. “I am proud of working with the business and together with my colleagues steering its growth to the prominent position it has today.”

“We are grateful to Jonas for his leadership of the Swedish business over the last decade,” added Discovery Networks Northern Europe’s Dominic Coles. “He has created a significant portfolio of media brands led by Kanal 5, the second biggest commercial channel in Sweden and we wish him all the success in his future business endeavors.”
