UK pubcaster BBC1 has ordered a one-off special on The Great British Bake Off series six winner Nadiya Hussain (pictured).
Tentatively titled The Chronicles of Nadiya and produced by Bake Off producer Love Productions, the 2 x 60-minute culinary travelogue will shadow Hussain as she visits her birthplace of Luton, England, while exploring the traditional dishes of her family’s roots in the North East region of Bangladesh.
The special will follow Hussain as she cooks dishes from her childhood while sharing her favorite meals with family and friends, learning new recipes and discovering the evolving food scene of Bangladesh since her last visit 10 years prior for her wedding.
Kieran Smith serves as executive producer on the one-off, while Clare Paterson, commissioning editor for documentaries, ordered the special for the pubcaster.
“Nadiya’s story on Bake Off touched the hearts of the nation,” said Patrick Holland, head of commissioning for documentaries, in a statement. “We are delighted that she will be using her cooking skills to take us on a journey to such an extraordinary and changing land.”
