In this week’s round-up, new non-fiction series are scheduled to premiere across UP TV, DIY Network, AMC and Investigation Discovery.
Scripps Networks Interactive-owned home project channel DIY Network will head to the remote corners of Montana to build a self-sustaining farm house in Building off the Grid: Big Sky Ranch. Produced by Dorsey Pictures, the six-part series will follow Jon and Etta Smith as they construct a 2,200-square-foot rustic bison ranch – fully equipped with a corral, feeding system for their herd of bison, edible garden, artisanal well and windmill. The series premieres May 5 at 10 p.m. EST/PST.
Directed and exec produced by Emmy-awarded filmmaker Joe Berlinger, the series will provide unprecedented access to the state parole boards in Colorado and Wyoming for an inside look into the process that determines whether inmates are fit for reintegration into society or should remain incarcerated. The docuseries will shine a light on the lesser-known side of justice to offer firsthand accounts from law enforcement officials, inmates, victims and their families. The series airs May 22 at 8 p.m. EST/PST on Investigation Discovery.
Produced by Figure 8 Films, the series follows the couple and their children – now five years old – in their return to television as they replace diaper changes and feeding schedules with new challenges that include homework assignments from six separate kindergarten classes and chore charts. Growing Up McGhee is slated to debut on June 8 at 9 p.m. EST/PST.
Finally, AMC has set a June 12 air date for the Left/Right Productions-made cross-country motorcycle travelogue featuring The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus.
The 6 x 60-minute Ride with Norman Reedus (pictured) shadows the actor and motorcycle enthusiast as he journeys across the U.S. to visit custom bike shops, tattoo parlors, roadside smokehouses and collector’s warehouses to celebrate leading mechanics, craftsmen and collectors around the country. Reedus will be joined in each episode by a notable riding companion, with featured guests including Peter Fonda, Robert Rodriguez and Balthazar Getty. The series bows June 12 at 10 p.m. EST/PST on AMC.
