Discovery Channel ups Joseph Schneier

The U.S. network has elevated Joseph Schneier (pictured) to VP of production and development.

U.S. net Discovery Channel has elevated Joseph Schneier (pictured) to VP of production and development.

The exec previously served as senior director of production of development, and also worked as an executive producer for Discovery. In his new role, Schneier will continue to serve as an EP while working alongside the development teams in New York and Los Angeles.

He will report to Chris Rantamaki, senior VP of production and development, and is based out of the channel’s office in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Schneier first boarded Discovery in 2012 as an executive producer on such series as Alaskan Bush People, Moonshiners and multiple hours of ‘Shark Week’ programming. He has also been credited with overseeing Discovery’s first leap into the true crime space with Killing Fields.

Prior to Discovery, he served as a showrunner and executive producer for Discovery, Animal Planet, Science Channel, A&E and Scripps Networks Interactive.
