NBCUniversal Cable ups Olander

The NBCUniversal cable division has promoted Heather Olander (pictured) to head up alternative programming for USA Network and Syfy.

NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment has promoted Heather Olander (pictured) to head up alternative programming for USA Network and Syfy.

In her new role, Olander will serve as senior VP of alternative programming for the two networks.

Most recently, Olander served as senior VP of alternative programming at Syfy where she was responsible for expanding the network’s non-fiction programming slate.

Prior to this, she served as senior VP of alternative programming for USA Network where she first launched the channel into the unscripted programming space with the Maverick TV- and All3Media America-made reality series Chrisley Knows Best.

Olander will report to Bill McGoldrick, executive VP of scripted content at NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment.

In other news, Jessica Sebastian has departed NBCUniversal-owned net USA Network to join Hell’s Kitchen-producer ITV Entertainment as senior VP of development.
