Nigel Lythgoe, co-creator and executive producer of Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance and an executive producer for Fox’s American Idol, is coming to Realscreen West in Santa Monica.
Lythgoe will take part in a one-on-one keynote conversation at the event, on June 9 at 10 a.m.
A true multi-hyphenate, Lythgoe is a director, producer, choreographer and dancer and has been a driving force behind some of the biggest series in unscripted television history. So You Think You Can Dance, which has aired on Fox since 2005, has won 11 Emmy awards thus far. American Idol, which ended its spectacular run after 15 seasons this year, has been nominated for nearly 70 Emmy awards to date.
Lythgoe also produced the Idol charity spin-off, Idol Gives Back, which raised more than US$170 million. Recently, he was honored with the International Emmy Founders award, presented to him by Lady Gaga. In 2015, he was awarded an OBE (Order of the British Empire) for his work in education, charity and the arts.
He has worked with such stars as Gene Kelly, Shirley Bassey, Bing Crosby and Chita Rivera, among others.
At Realscreen West, Lythgoe will share some of the stories behind bringing two of the biggest juggernauts in unscripted television to life, and provide his perspective on where the industry is headed and what opportunities are arising for producers and creators in a multi-platform era.
Realscreen West takes place from June 8-10 at the Fairmont Miramar in Santa Monica. For more information, click here.
