American game show staples Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy are returning to German television after a 10-year hiatus.

Distributor Sony Pictures Television (SPT) has sold the formats to commercial television operator RTL to air on new channel RTL Plus, which launches June 1.

The network has ordered 60 episodes of each show. Both are scheduled to begin production over the summer and are to air in the fall.

SPT will produce both programs. The formats are licensed by CBS Studios International.

“We absolutely love game shows and believe Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy fill a huge gap in the current market, and appeal to both those who fondly recall the original runs as well as viewers who’ve never seen the shows,” Astrid Quentell, SPT Germany MD, said in a statement.

Quentell will exec produce both shows alongside Henning Pelkmann.
