GoDigital-owned digital distributor Distribber.com has partnered with the International Documentary Association (IDA) to launch a quarterly grant program that will allow filmmakers the opportunity to distribute their content to major online platforms and retain rights and revenue.

The Distribber.com grant will be open to all films receiving fiscal sponsorship through the IDA, Pare Lorentz Documentary Fund grant recipients or films nominated for the IDA Documentary Awards. It will provide four filmmakers per year counsel and technical support for the direct distribution of their projects to such digital distribution portals as iTunes, Google Play, Hulu, Amazon Prime, Vudu and Netflix.

Josh Fox‘s How to Let Go of the World (and Love all the Things Climate Can’t Change) (pictured) will be the first project to be awarded the Distribber.com grant. The film, which premiered at this year’s Sundance and saw the director traveling to 12 countries on six continents to explore the effects of climate change, is slated to tour globally in 100 cities and will debut across HBO on June 27.

The Pare Lorentz grant supports full-length documentary films that exhibit objective research, artful storytelling, strong visual style, high production values, artistic writing and outstanding music composition, as well as skillful direction, camerawork and editing.

“Distribber.com is a valued brand to all filmmakers and the opportunity to provide encoding, distribution services and counsel regarding distribution to the important players in the digital space is a huge value added for any filmmaker,” said IDA executive director Simon Kilmurry in a statement.

“We have been fortunate enough both as filmmakers and as technologists to have vast experience in the distribution world and we believe in supporting outstanding filmmakers like Josh Fox,” added Nick Soares, CEO of GoDigital and Distribber.com.
