In this week’s round-up, new non-fiction series and documentaries are scheduled to premiere across Travel Channel, Verizon’s Go90, E! and Investigation Discovery.
Produced by Pilgrim Media Group, Adaptive Studios, and Ben Affleck and Matt Damon’s prodco, Pearl Street Films, the interactive competition series will feature one competitor challenged to make it across America undetected, while five two-person “Chase teams” and audiences across the country attempt to track them down for a chance to win more than US$1 million.
If Chase teams are able to capture the Runner, they win the bounty on his or her head, which increases by $15,000 daily. The series – which airs with three episodes daily beginning July 1 – will be hosted by online presenter Matthew Patrick and Vice News journalist Kaj Larsen.
Scripps Networks Interactive-owned net Travel Channel, meanwhile, will enlist the acting chops of Jon Cryer, Terry Crews and Eric Stonestreet for a new adventure series set to debut on July 1 at 11 p.m. EST/PST.
The Herzog & Company-produced Celebrity Adventure Club will shadow some of Hollywood’s biggest names as they explore what inspires and urges them forward, while adventuring across the world to discover and explore a variety of subjects, including venturing to the global hubs of space exploration with Cryer, the rebirth of Detroit with Crews, and Second World War espionage with Stonestreet.
Elsewhere, Discovery Communications-owned crime net Investigation Discovery will provide audiences with an inside look into the work of seasoned Pennsylvania coroner Graham Hetrick.
The eight-part The Coroner: I Speak for the Dead (pictured) from LMNO Entertainment Group will follow Hetrick as he unfurls murder cases, autopsies and complex forensic investigations to reveal exactly how each murder occurred and who is to blame. The series bows July 18 at 10 p.m. EST/PST on Investigation Discovery.
Produced by Bunim/Murray Productions in association with the WWE, Total Bellas (6 x 60 minutes) will chronicle the comical exploits of the wrestling twins and their “fellas” John Cena and Daniel Bryan as the foursome coexist under the same roof for the first time. The series, which premieres October 5 at 8 p.m. EST/PST, will also follow Nikki’s rehabilitation following surgery on her neck and spine.
