Super indie Banijay Group has acquired a minority stake in the newly formed Italian prodco DRY – an acronym for Don’t Repeat Yourself – launched by four former Magnolia executives (pictured).
The firm was created by Fabrizio Ievolella, Danila Battaglini, Francesco Lauber and Leopoldo Gasparotto with the aim of developing and producing original formats for the Italian and international marketplace across multiple platforms.
Former Magnolia head of content Ievolella will now serve as DRY MD. Battaglini, who held the title of head of production, will now serve as operations director. Lauber, previously head of development, will hold the title of creative director. Magnolia editorial curator Gasparotto will now work as DRY’s program director.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“There is a great deal of creativity emanating from the highly motivated management team at DRY and we look forward to working closely with them and to effectively rolling out innovative formats around the world,” added Banijay Group CEO Marco Bassetti.
Elsewhere, Zodiak Media’s Dutch affiliate Zodiak Nederland has appointed Remco Lentjes (pictured, right) as its chief creative officer, effective immediately.
In his new post, Lentjes will be charged with developing original projects and adapting international formats to the Dutch marketplace.
Prior to joining Banijay Group’s Zodiak Nederland, Lentjes served as international format distribution manager at Endemol Shine Group. He has also held such positions as editor in chief and head creative at RTL Productions.
