Veteran A+E programming executive Gena McCarthy has been upped at FYI, to EVP of programming and development. Previously, McCarthy was SVP of the department, a role she had held since 2013, in advance of the lifestyle net’s July 2014 launch. She will continue to report to Paul Greenberg, general manager of FYI and in-house creative agency 45th and Dean. “During Gena’s impressive tenure at FYI, she has worked tirelessly and overseen the development and success of multiple hit shows and formats that have made FYI one of the most upscale cable networks in the industry and one of the most successful new cable networks in years,” said Greenberg in a statement. “Additionally, the content has not only been a huge hit with consumers, but it is also extremely popular with the advertising community; Gena has helped solidify many important branded integrations with companies such as Home Depot, Wayfair, Zillow and others,” he added. “This is an extremely well-deserved next step for Gena and I am thrilled she is taking on this elevated role.” Prior to FYI, McCarthy held the SVP of alternative programming role at sister network Lifetime, where she oversaw such series as Dance Moms, Bring It! and Project Runway All-Stars among others. She also held senior programming positions at Discovery Channel and a VP position at WE tv.
