Matchbox exec boards SBS as doc commissioner

The Australian pubcaster has appointed former Matchbox Pictures exec Susie Jones (pictured) as commissioning editor for documentaries.

Australian pubcaster SBS has appointed former Matchbox Pictures exec Susie Jones (pictured) as commissioning editor for documentaries within the linear television and digital content division.

In her new role, Jones will oversee the commissioning of multi-platform doc content for the Aussie network with additional oversight of such factual series as First Contact, Go Back to Where You Came From and DNA Nation.

She will report to Joseph Maxwell, who was recently elevated to head of documentaries, when she joins the company on September 12.

Jones currently serves as a fact-ent development exec at NBCUniversal-owned Matchbox Pictures, where she is responsible for overseeing production development for all networks, including SBS’s Date My Race.

Prior to this, Jones spent more than 10 years working as a freelance producer on such Australian series as ABC’s Rudely Interrupted and Myf Warhurst’s Nice; Network Ten’s Undercover Boss; and Nine Network’s The Secret Millionaire.
