NBCUniversal’s Wilshire Studios brings on BJ Levin

Former Vice executive producer and showrunner BJ Levin (pictured) has been tapped as senior VP of development at Wilshire Studios, the unscripted division of NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment.

HBO Vice executive producer and showrunner BJ Levin (pictured) has been tapped as senior VP of development at Wilshire Studios, the unscripted division of NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment.

The role has Levin tasked with overseeing all development and sales of original, non-scripted programming for the production house. Based in Los Angeles, he will report to Dawn Olmstead, executive VP of development at Universal Cable Productions and Wilshire Studios.

Most recently, Levin served as an executive producer and showrunner over the first four seasons of HBO’s Emmy-winning docuseries Vice. Prior to this, Levin held a variety of positions at such¬†prodcos and networks as Al Roker Entertainment, Stick Figure Productions, BBC, MTV, A&E and Bravo.

Wilshire Studios currently produces E!’s The Soup, Fashion Police, E!¬†True Hollywood Story, Ice Loves Coco and Giuliana and Bill. The shingle has also produced such series as the GSN game show Baggage, Esquire Network’s Women We Love, BBC America’s The Nerdist and Logo’s Scandalicious.

“BJ’s background in bold and daring non-scripted television is what drew us to him,” said Olmstead in a statement. “He has been at the forefront of groundbreaking, intelligent docuseries and will be a great asset as we head into that direction at Wilshire.”
