Blind daters will be treated to a French hotel setting in a new First Dates spin-off from Channel 4.

The Twenty Twenty Productions-made First Dates Hotel (6 x 60 minutes) will take place in a French boutique hotel, where maître D’ Fred Siriex will host a group of singletons keen on a more “intensive” blind date experience.

The new format finds individuals taking part in a date on hotel grounds. If the meeting is successful, their stay at the hotel will be extended. Those who strike out on a first date will be re-matched with someone else for another chance.

Channel 4 recently began airing a celebrity-focused edition of First Dates, featuring characters from The Only Way Is EssexGogglebox and Britain’s Got Talent, among others.

“Having worked across multiple series of First Dates we’re really excited to develop the format and take into a new space,” said series editor Adam Chapman in a statement. “The hotel, whilst retaining all of the charm of the restaurant series, will give the viewer the chance to see first dates develop into second dates answering that eternal question, ‘What happens next?’”

Madonna Benjamin commissioned the program for Channel 4. Nicola Lloyd is listed as executive producer.
