CMT doc “Chicken People” finds N.A. distribution

Samuel Goldwyn Films has secured the North American rights to the Motto Pictures-produced doc.

California-based distributor Samuel Goldwyn Films has acquired the North American rights to CMT doc Chicken People.

The film will receive a theatrical release later this summer, marking the first such run for a CMT original documentary. Directed by Nicole Lucas Haimes and produced by Julie Goldman‘s Motto Pictures, the doc premiered at SXSW in March and follows the men, women and chicken taking part in the Ohio National Poultry Show in hopes of securing the Grand Champion title.

Chicken People will receive an on-demand and digital release in October before premiering on CMT later this year.

The film is produced by Terry Leonard, Caroline Kaplan, Christopher Clements and Julie Goldman. Executive producers include Jayson Dinsmore, Lewis Bogach, John Miller-Monzon and Nicole Lucas Haimes and co-producers are Carolyn Hepburn and Diane Becker.

The deal was negotiated by Jill Karole and Peter Goldwyn, on behalf of Samuel Goldwyn Films; Anne Oakley, Jodi Carmichael, John Miller-Monzon and Sean Bangert of CMT Films; and Linzee Troubh of Cinetic.
