Scandinavian media company Modern Times Group (MTG) has named former BBC Worldwide (BBCWW) exec Bun Beeson (pictured) as its vice-president of pay-TV and VOD programming acquisitions.

In the role, Beeson will be responsible for developing the company’s programming strategy while acquiring content for MTG’s Viasat Film and Series channels, Viaplay and other streaming services across Scandinavia and abroad.

She will report to Vanda Rapti, MTG’s senior VP of programming acquisitions.

Beeson rejoins the Scandinavian broadcaster following a six-year stint at BBCWW where she served as VP of global acquisitions in the content division and was tasked with acquiring all content for BBC’s international portfolio of thematic channels.

She previously spent four years at MTG where she served as head of acquisitions of pay-TV programming for Scandinavia and Eastern Europe.

“We are buying more content for more windows than ever before, so attracting super-skilled and experienced professionals like Bun to lead the deal-making with existing and future content producers and distributors around the world is essential,” said Jakob Mejlhede Anderson, MTG’s executive VP of programming and content development, in a statement. “Bun is a results driven high achiever with a fantastic attitude that fits MTG’s bold, smart, fun and engaging culture.”
