UK commercial broadcaster ITV has commissioned the tentatively titled gender surgery docuseries Sex Transition Clinic from Renegade Pictures and Storyvault Films.

The 3 x 60-minute series will provide a first-hand account into the world of gender confirmation surgery by following renowned plastic surgeon Christopher Inglefield (pictured) and his clinical staff at the London-based private clinic as they offer pre- and post-op care to patients.

The series will shadow transgender people throughout various stages of their transitional journey, from those in the early stages of consultation, to those starting hormonal treatment and those in the final stages of gender confirmation surgery.

Renegade’s Jonathan Levi and Harry Lansdown serve as executive producers alongside Storyvault’s Olivia Lichtenstein. The docuseries was commissioned by ITV’s Sue Murphy, head of factual entertainment; and Jo Clinton Davis, controller of factual.

“Through the prism of the clinic, and the stories of a wide range of individuals who pass through its doors, the series will seek to shed a light on what it means to go through this life changing, life confirming process in every aspect – emotionally as well as physically,” said Clinton Davis in a statement.
