A+E Networks has named Jessica Haagmans as the company’s first regional director for the Benelux territory after launching a new office in the Netherlands.

Based out of Amsterdam, Haagmans (pictured) will be tasked with growing the network’s portfolio of channels, while bolstering A+E’s relationships in the region and creating new commercial opportunities, with a focus on digital platforms.

She will report into Nicolas Eglau, chief operating officer and GM of Nordics, Benelux and CEEMEA at A+E Networks UK, when she takes up the newly created role at the end of September.

Haagmans joins A+E Networks from affiliate network Affilinet Benelux, where she served as MD. There, she was responsible for all sales activity in the region, streamlining the company’s client-facing processes and overseeing the acquisition of local affiliate network, Cleafs.

Prior to boarding Affilinet Benelux, Haagmans served as COO at Dutch publishing group Sanoma as well as at production house IDTV.

The appointment follows a wave of recent growth for A+E in the Benelux region, which has included partnering with RTL Group subsidiary RTL Nederland as its advertising sales house, launching Crime + Investigation on Dutch telecommunications company KPN and Vodafone, and increasing the reach of History across the Netherlands.

A+E Networks UK’s stable of channels includes History, Lifetime, Crime + Investigation, H2, and free-to-air brand Blaze, which is slated to launch across the UK and Ireland Sept. 20.
