Australian broadcaster SBS has struck a deal with London-based distributor TCB Media Rights to represent the network’s in-house stable of culinary programs.
The deal follows on the Australian channel’s decision in June to shutter its in-house sales division, SBS International, citing efficiencies in tapping external sales agents in international markets with specific expertise in SBS’s focus areas.
Under the deal, TCB will represent the SBS food catalog in all markets outside of Australia, handling the distribution of such series as Destination Flavour, Poh and Co and This is Brazil! (pictured).
“This partnership with TCB is the start of a new relationship that we hope ultimately to develop and introduce across other commissioned shows in the broader SBS unscripted catalog,” said Chris Irvine, head of commercial and production at SBS, in a statement.
“What SBS wants from a distributor fits in perfectly with TCB’s mission statement of working creatively and commercially with channels and producers at the earliest stage,” added TCB Media Rights CEO Paul Heaney.
