Passion Distribution has picked up a little magic and a smattering of sports with its latest rights acquisitions.

The London-based boutique TV distribution company has acquired the worldwide rights to The Next Great Magician, a new 6 x 60-minute series from Derren Brown’s Vaudeville Productions in association with Crook Productions for ITV. Five magicians per episode will perform their most sensational tricks, some in front of a studio audience and others on location in front of members of the public and celebrities. The magicians then judge each other’s performances. A live final will feature the top five who will battle it out for the title and another prize: their own TV special.

Passion’s portfolio of programming featuring British magician Dynamo has been bolstered with two hour-long specials: Dynamo: Live at the O2 and Dynamo: A-Z. The former follows the magician as he embarks on the biggest live magic performance in British history by headlining the O2 Arena in London with his live show, Seeing is Believing. The latter sees Dynamo go on a retrospective, alphabetical journey with clips of some of his most memorable magic tricks from his award-winning TV series Dynamo: Magician Impossible.

Finally, the distributor has also secured the worldwide rights to the 6 x 60-minute fixed-rig reality series The Dressing Room, which follows the sporting season of a range of different clubs across Britain all through the action that unfolds in the dressing room. The STV Productions and GroupM Entertainment copro, which airs on UKTV’s W, follows the key characters in each club and their personal stories, through the natural structure of a sporting event: a pre-game beginning, motivational team talks halfway through, and post-match reactions at the end.
