Broad Bean MD joins BBC Worldwide

Joff Powell has been appointed acting commissioning editor for factual entertainment at BBC Worldwide (BBCWW), effective immediately.

In his new role, Powell (pictured) will be charged with overseeing BBCWW’s fact-ent commissioning slate that includes Are You Fitter Than a Massai Warrior?, Million Dollar Car Hunters and Fishing Impossible.

Powell joins from Broad Bean Media where he served as MD over the past four years, and takes over from Hannah Demidowicz as she departs on maternity leave.

While at Broad Bean, the exec worked across a wide range of series in the factual, entertainment and comedy spaces, including Channel 4′s Katie Piper’s Extraordinary Births, and AOL’s Sophie Turner #Powershift.

Prior to this, Powell held stints as head of development at UK prodco betty, a commissioning executive at UKTV and an entertainment executive at Lion TV.
