Kevin MacLellan’s NBCU leadership role expanded

The former chair of NBCUniversal International now holds the title of chair, global distribution and international, with oversight of domestic TV and new media sales in addition to his current responsibilities.

Kevin MacLellan‘s¬†leadership role at NBCUniversal has been expanded.

As part of an organizational announcement made by NBCUniversal CEO Steve Burke¬†earlier this month, MacLellan, who was formerly chair, NBCUniversal International, will now be chair, global distribution and international. His remit now includes oversight of domestic TV and new media sales (which are led by Frances Manfredi, president, cable & new media distribution, NBCUniversal), in addition to his current responsibility of leading NBCU’s international business.

MacLellan has served as chair of NBCU International since 2013 where he is tasked with managing day-to-day operations and international expansion for NBCUniversal’s businesses outside of North America, focusing on increasing non-U.S. revenues and driving business growth. He oversaw the launch of Hayu, a reality-focused SVOD service, in March 2016 in the UK, Ireland and Australia, in a bid to increase NBCU’s direct-to-consumer initiatives,

MacLellan’s newly-expanded role is geared to further NBCU International’s aim to be more nimble in responding to the evolving media landscape with increased synergies across the broad international portfolio. He will still be based in London.

MacLellan will act as chair of the upcoming Royal Television Society London Conference on Tuesday, Sept. 27, at which Burke will deliver the conference keynote.
