Discovery-owned cable net American Heroes Channel has set a mid-October airdate for the historical docuseries Cold War Armageddon.

Produced by Big Media and KM Plus Media, the eight-part series is set to recount one of the greatest power struggles in history when nuclear weapons kept the entire world on edge.

The series will document the origins of The Cold War that saw two superpowers facing off in an all-our arms race flanked by a propaganda battle at the culmination of World War II. It will also chronicle the bitter rivalry between capitalism and communism that causes Russia to seal itself behind the Iron Curtain in the 1970s.

Martin KaseDanny Wilk and Jon Loew serve as executive producers alongside producer Max Serio. For AHC, Ron Simon is executive producer, with Shane Bowler as producer.

Cold War Armageddon premieres Oct. 12 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on AHC.
