Quebecor Content has signed an exclusive three-year distribution deal with global producer and distributor Endemol Shine International.
The deal gives Quebecor exclusive rights to broadcast a host of Endemol Shine programs in French-speaking Canada, including season eight of MasterChef Australia and U.K. tattoo and piercing docuseries Bodyshockers.
Other lifestyle programming included in the deal are real estate competition series The Block and MasterChef Junior USA.
The newly acquired shows will be aired across Quebecor’s platforms, including TVA and specialty channels CASA and Moi&Cie.
Palatin, Content Media partner on distribution
Munich-based producer-distributor Palatin Media has partnered with Content Media Corporation in a bid to source and acquire shows, as well as to co-distribute in the international market. One of their first joint campaigns under the collaboration is Banger Films’ Hip-Hop Evolution, a 4 x 60-minute documentary about the foundation and evolution of hip-hop music for TMN/HBO Canada.
Directed by Darby Wheeler, Hip-Hop Evolution features rapper and journalist Shad Kabango (pictured, left, with LL Cool J) as he meets the DJs and emcees who set the template in the early hip-hop scene, including Kool Herc, Afrika Bambaataa, Grandmaster Flash, Ice-T, De La Soul and DMC. The docuseries rounds out the story through a blend of exclusive interviews, archival film and music.
The series, which will be showcased at the upcoming MIPCOM, was produced with the participation of Canada’s Rogers Cable Network Fund, Ontario Media Development Corporation, Rogers Documentary Fund, Canada Media Fund and Bell Fund.
