Based in Los Angeles, Gold Standard Television aims to create three-to-four unscripted and scripted shows per year.
The shop has teamed up with producer Jose Behar to develop the scripted project Prodigal, which is based on Hoffman’s original story and developed with author and screenwriter Nathan Edmonson. The story is about a Manhattan gangster in a “darkly-toned Western tale of greed and redemption woven with magical realism set in the 1870′s frontier.”
Gold Standard also has unscripted pilots in the works.
The Raw TV-produced Gold Rush has aired on Discovery Channel for six seasons and the seventh premieres Oct.14.
Prior to founding Gold Standard, Behar served as head of business development and distribution for Electric Entertainment. He has co-produced series such as TNT’s Leverage, Brain Trust and The Librarians. He also launched the company’s international sales division alongside Dean Devlin.
