BBC2 has ordered the investigative documentary Who’s Spending Britain’s Billions? from Pulse Films.

Written and hosted by journalist and broadcaster Jacques Peretti, the special airs Oct. 18 and examines the billions of pounds spent by the British government on contracts for odd and lesser-known projects such as virtual receptionists and night-vision goggles used to spy on dog walkers.

Peretti, who joined the UK and U.S.-based company in September as part of an expansion of its unscripted team, reveals that hundreds of the millions in taxpayer money is spent on contracts that are covered by confidential deals.

Emma Cooper and Mark Rubens are exec producing Who’s Spending Britain’s Billions? for Pulse, with Dan Trelford producing and Tom Pursey associate producing.
