Content Media has signed a distribution deal with London-based producer Cardinal Releasing.
The agreement covers programs produced through Cardinal’s sister shop Emperor Media and directed by filmmaker and veteran music manager John Brewer, who has worked with David Bowie, Gerry Rafferty and Yes, among others.
The titles include the 90-minute special Beside Bowie: The Mick Ronson Story (pictured), about the English guitar hero who worked with several rock icons including Bowie on albums such as The Man Who Sold the World and Aladdin Sane, Hunky Dory.
Other Brewer-helmed docs joining Content’s catalog are Monochrome: Black, White & Blue, about blues, rock n’ roll and rap music that has resulted from racial unrest in America; B.B. King: On The Road, about the late blues legend; Steve McQueen: Desert Racer, about the late actor’s love of dirt-bike racing; and Bad Company, about the 70s rock supergroup; and Nat King Cole: Afraid of the Dark.
“For more than 40 years, Jon Brewer has played a pivotal role in the careers of some of the world’s greatest icons, bringing their stories vividly to life as an acclaimed producer/director,” said Content exec VP of sales and distribution, Jonathan Ford, in a statement. “As a result of this, Cardinal Releasing represents some of the very best music and entertainment biopics and documentaries in the world.”
