Keshet International’s talent show format Rising Star is heading to India.

A local version of the interactive singing competition will air on Viacom18-owned channel Colors TV in early 2017. The Israeli company will distribute the finished version of the series internationally.

Rising Star debuted in China on state TV channel CCTV-3 last year and has recently been licensed to Cambodia. A second season of the Indonesian version will premiere soon.

Created and produced by Tedy Productions and Keshet Broadcasting, the format launched in 2013 and was a fast seller but its international performance has been mixed. More than 250 episodes have been produced in Brazil and successful seasons have aired in Portugal and Argentina.

However, ITV cancelled the UK version after one season and ABC axed the U.S. edition after its inaugural run. France’s M6 pulled the plug on season one early amid declining ratings.
