NBCUniversal International Formats has acquired the Asian rights to Japanese quiz show Who Is The Real Celebrity from ABC International, the format sales division of Asahi Broadcasting Corporation.
The Japanese comedic game show features opposing teams of celebrities taking on a series of challenges that test their five senses in order to establish whether or not they are authentic personalities.
From recognizing a pricey bottle of fine wine to identifying an expensive instrument, contestants must make the correct selection to win validation as a real celebrity.
“Who Is The Real Celebrity is one of the highest rated shows in a prime time-slot in the competitive Japanese market,” said Shusaku Inoue, MD of ABC International, in a statement. “With its reputation and connections, we have confidence that NBCUniversal International Formats will make this format travel successfully throughout Asia.”
