Katie Buchanan is leaving CMT to join Lifetime and LMN as senior VP of programming strategy and scheduling.

She will report to Christian Drobnyk, senior VP of strategy, scheduling and acquisitions at Lifetime.

While at Viacom-owned CMT, Buchanan served as senior VP of programming strategy and acquisitions. In addition to programming and scheduling, she oversaw on-air promo media planning, research analysis, multi-platform and digital scheduling and acquisitions.

She also headed up acquisition coordination for CMT’s sister nets Nickelodeon, Nick at Nite, TeenNick and TV Land.

Prior to that, Buchanan led programming and acquisitions strategy as senior VP at NBCUniversal’s Style Network. She spent 10 years at the now-defunct network (which became Esquire Network) where she worked in development and production, and brought in domestic and international formats and documentaries.

She has also worked at VH1 in the original movie and series group, developing made-for-TV movies.
