Discovery Communications has upped two business executives in a stated bid to strengthen relations with its production partners.

The move will see Jhamal Robinson  (pictured, left) shift titles from VP to senior VP of production management. In his new role, he is responsible for production management for all of Discovery’s 13 U.S. networks, reporting to Marc Graboff, president of global business and legal affairs, production management and studios group.

Robinson previously managed the productions of TLC series including 90 Day Fiance, I Am Jazz and Tyler Perry’s Too Close to Home. The Emmy-winning exec has been with Discovery since 2012 after serving as head of production for Yahoo! Studios and NBCUniversal’s Style Network. Robinson won the award in 2010 in the Outstanding Special Class Special category for Style Network’s Clean House: the Messiest House in the Country.

Meanwhile, Heather Sokolow (right) will assume the newly created role of VP of production management for Discovery Channel, Animal Planet and Science. She previously oversaw production for such hit series as Diesel Brothers, Fast n’ Loud and Street Outlaws. In her new position, she reports to Robinson.

Before joining Discovery four years ago, Sokolow worked as a freelance producer on a variety of shows, including America’s Next Top Model (CW), Making the Band (MTV) and Destination Truth (SyFy).

Robinson and Sokolow are based at Discovery’s Los Angeles office.

“Jhamal and Heather are excellent leaders with the experience, relationships and skills necessary to continue Discovery’s unparalleled track record of the highest production quality and standards, all in partnership with the production community,” said Graboff in a statement.
