U.S. net Oxygen Media is exploring the darker side of Christmas with a new true crime series for the festive season.

NBCUniversal-owned broadcaster is premiering Homicide for the Holidays, a 4 x 60-minute series that is more about blood, gore and horror than the traditional Christmas stories of family bonding and sharing.

Each episode takes viewers into the Christmas experiences of four different families where personal rivalries, parental relations and unwelcome visits lead to epic disasters. Take for example, the episode “Santa Claus is Coming to Kill,” where a sociopath wielding handguns and flame throwers makes a ghastly appearance at the Ortega family’s Christmas dinner.

The series is produced by Jarrett Creative Group, with Sett Jarrett, Julie Insogna Jarrett, Bob Gillan and Steve Bruno as executive producer. Kathi Watson is listed as co-executive producer.

Homicide for the Holidays premiers on Dec. 3 in the 8 to 10 p.m. ET time slot.
