Fox Networks Group (FNG) Europe and Africa has hired former Discovery Networks International executive Hans van Rijn as GM for FNG Nordics.

In the new role, van Rijn will oversee the strategic and operational management of FNG and National Geographic Partners in the Nordics region. The organization operates pay-TV and free-to-air channels FOX, National Geographic, NatGeo People, NatGeo Wild and Baby TVacross four countries – Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark.

Van Rijn joins Fox Networks Group NordicsĀ from Discovery Networks International, where he served as VP of global strategy and business development for DNI Digital Media. There, he was responsibleĀ forĀ developing and implementing digital growth opportunities for the company’s global and regional brand portfolio.

Prior to this, van Rijn held senior positions at SBS Broadcasting in Denmark and German mass media firm ProSieben.

Joining FNG’s offices in Copenhagen, Denmark, in the New Year, van Rijn will report to Adam Theiler, executive VP of FNG Europe and Africa.

“Hans van Rijn brings a wealth of local knowledge and relevant experience to our Nordics division and is well placed to build upon strong relationships with our affiliate partners and advertisers, amplifying our contribution to this dynamic market with world class digital services and genre defining FOX and National Geographic programming,” Theiler said in a statement.
