Ahead of the premiere of American Heroes Channel’s re-enactment series Blood and Fury: America’s Civil War on Dec. 14, realscreen presents an exclusive clip of the Cream Productions-made program.

The series will transport viewers more than 150 years into the past to chronicle the bloodiest chapter in American history when the Union was faced with secessions in 11 southern states, forming the Confederate States of America.

Told from the perspective of a soldier, the six-part series explores the war’s most significant battles – Bull Run, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Gettsyburg, Battle of Nashville and Petersburg – to share the full scope of each encounter while unearthing little-known stories of the four-year conflict that claimed the lives of more than one million soldiers.

Accompanying the series will be AHC’s first-ever virtual reality experience, Civil War: Letter from the Trenches. The VR piece, produced by Cream and Discovery VR, will allow users to experience what life was like for a young cadet in the Confederate army as they trek through mud and dodge enemy fire. The experience will be available via multiple platforms including DiscoveryVR.com and through the channel’s VR apps for iOS, Android, Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR. It will also be available as a 360-degree video on AHC’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.

Cream’s Kate Harrison and David Brady serve as executive producers, with Max Culhane exec producing for AHC.

Blood and Fury: America’s Civil War premieres across American Heroes Channel on Dec. 14 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

“With a high-end, cinematic experience, Blood and Fury: America’s Civil War is as dramatic and compelling as any Hollywood blockbuster, taking viewers beyond textbooks, and onto the frontlines of the iconic battles that changed our nation forever,” said Kevin Bennett, EVP and GM of American Heroes Channel, in a statement.
