Vien (pictured, left), who joins the firm from global content studio Pulse Films, will now be provided with oversight of A+E’s businesses throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), while also managing the programming strategy, acquisitions and production for channels outside the U.S.
Additionally, Vien will be responsible for all aspects of international content sales across A+E’s 220 territories while continuing to oversee the recently secured international distribution partnership between Pulse and A+E when he joins A+E’s New York offices in January.
Prior to Pulse, Vien served as chair and CEO of Warner Music International, overseeing the company’s recorded music business across 50 countries. Previous to this, he held the title of president NBCUniversal Global Networks, where he managed NBCU’s pay-TV channels in Europe, LatAm and the company’s joint ventures across Asia. He also served as the founder of two U.S. cable networks, Trio and Newsworld International.
Sabin (right), meanwhile, has been elevated from MD of Americas and head of commercial operations for international to executive MD of international alongside Vien.
In his current role, Sabin manages partnerships, channels and digital media activities in Latin America and Canada. Sabin also leads the company’s global strategic and operational teams, and heads up format programming and production. Based out of the company’s Los Angeles offices, Sabin will now add oversight of Asia, Australia and New Zealand to his remit.
Sabin joined A+E Networks in 2015 from Discovery & TLC Networks, where he served as group chief operating officer. He joined Discovery from Fox Television Studios and was previously a partner at LA-based general practice law firm Greenberg Glusker.
The two executive MDs of international will report to Sean Cohan, president of international and digital media at A+E Networks.
