Discovery Communications-owned lifestyle channel TLC has appointed former ABC executive Jason Sarlanis to the post of senior VP of development.

Based in Los Angeles, Sarlanis (pictured) will be responsible for managing the development teams on both the east and west coasts. He reports to Howard Lee, executive VP of development and production.

Most recently, Sarlanis served as VP of alternative series and specials where he led the development and current primetime programming for such series as To Tell the Truth and BattleBots. Additionally, he spearheaded Disney ABC Television Group’s alternative department in the international format marketplace.

Prior to this, Sarlanis served as VP of original programming and series development at E! Entertainment Television, overseeing such titles as The SoupFashion Police and Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Sarlanis has also held the title of senior VP at Ryan Seacrest Productions.
