Australian pubcaster ABC TV commissioned factual entertainment series Dream Gardens from its in-house production team.

The eight-part series is hosted by Michael McCoy (pictured), one of Australia’s leading landscape designers. Each episode focuses on one family and the transformation of their garden.

Featured in the series are ordinary Australians as they battle through weather, financial tensions, personal obstacles and sometimes the designers, “in pursuit of the perfect place to relax and feel part of nature,” according to a press release from ABC TV.

As each makeover progresses, McCoy visits some of the country’s most beautiful gardens for design inspiration, practical tips and clues of how the projects will come together.

Dream Gardens is a simple idea with surprising depth. It follows the stories of eight families, showing us how a backyard makeover can soothe, heal, excite, and enrich us,” said Jon Casimir, head of ABC Entertainment, in a statement.

Dream Gardens premieres on ABC TV and ABC’s video on demand service, iView, on Feb. 9 at 8 p.m.
