With just two weeks to go before Realscreen Summit opens in Washington, D.C., the finalists for this year’s edition of the international pitch competition, The Summit Showdown, have been selected.

Listed in alphabetical order, the finalists for the 2017 Summit Showdown are:

The Grand Prize winner will receive a custom music and scoring package for their show from Vanacore Music. In addition to scoring the sizzle reel through the pilot, Vanacore will also provide music supervision, along with 10 custom tracks, and full access to their award-winning music library of more than 20,000 tracks.

Realscreen will provide the winner a pass to the 2018 Realscreen Summit as well as a GoPro HERO5 Session Waterproof 4K Sports & Helmet Camera.

The 2017 edition of the Summit Showdown will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 24 at the Marriott Marquis, hosted by Buddy Valastro (pictured), reality TV host and president of Cakehouse Media. Valastro’s newest seriesBakers vs. Fakers, is set to debut on Food Network Jan. 25 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

The finalists who made it through an initial adjudication round will go head-to-head to impress our host of distinguished judges with their new concept for an unscripted/non-fiction series or non-fiction documentary/one-off in this interactive competition, always a standing-room only favorite at the Summit.

Live participants will be judged on the creativity and marketability of their concept in addition to the quality and execution of their pitch.

This year’s judging panel consists of: Mary Donahue, SVP, non-fiction programming, Lifetime Television; Nomi Ernst Leidner SVP, development, Viceland; Howard Lee, EVP development & production, TLC / GM, Discovery Life Channel, Discovery Communications; and Hamish Mykura, EVP, programming and development, National Geographic Channel International.
