Brooklyn-based television and film distribution company, FilmRise, has hired Melissa Wohl as head of sales.

Wohl (pictured) is an industry veteran, who brings more than 20 years of experience in sales, marketing and acquisitions to her new executive role at FilmRise.

She will initiate the sales of the company’s various 2017 releases, including 16 to 24 new theatrical films and a number of digital releases. Wohl will also represent FilmRises’s titles at markets and festivals throughout the year.

Prior to joining FilmRise, Wohl most recently served as senior vice president of worldwide distribution at Content Media. For nearly a decade, she oversaw sales of Content’s film and television titles to broadcast and cable networks, syndicators, and digital platforms.

“Melissa’s myriad [of] capabilities and keen business sense mark important contributions to the continued growth of FilmRise,” said Danny Fisher, CEO of FilmRise in a statement. “Her expansive knowledge of sales and significant industry relationships are valuable assets to the company.”

FilmRise’s acquisitions and releases include HBO’s multiple Emmy-winning Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief, director James Solomon’s The Witness and Amy J. Berg‘s Janis: Little Girl Blue
