Global producer-distributor Red Arrow Entertainment Group-owned Karga Seven Pictures has launched a new production venture in Turkey, expanding its presence in what Karga founding partner Kelly McPherson has described as a “vibrant and fast-growing” market.

The L.A.-based production company behind reality series Hunting Hitler and Booze Traveler (pictured) opened a permanent production office this month in Istanbul.

“Turkey’s rich culture and history have always appealed to us as storytellers,” said McPherson in a statement.

Karga Seven Turkey will be headed by Tamer Uner, who has taken on the title of president. Ozer Sata (former CEO of Mindshare Turkey) will serve as CEO and Todd Cohen, Karga Seven’s former EVP of development, returns to the company as chief creative officer in Istanbul.

The Turkish prodco will focus on original content, including both scripted and factual television series, feature films, documentaries, game shows and branded content for mobile and digital platforms. While tailored to the local market, the prodco will also look to ready a slate that attracts international co-productions.

Global distribution of new programming will be handled by Red Arrow International.

“The Turkish TV market is a very interesting environment for us. Red Arrow’s partnership with Karga Seven and their exciting new venture will help us to broaden our international slate of world-class content,” said Henrik Pabst, managing director of Red Arrow International, which will handle global distribution of new programming emerging from the new venture.

Closer to home base, Karga Seven also announced major executive postings that put four long-time company team members, Jason Wolf,  Clint Lealos, Jeff Daniels and Scott Hunter, in top creative positions.

Wolf moves into the newly created role of VP/head of programming, and will oversee all current Karga Seven programming. He reports to Emre Sahin, McPherson and Sarah Wetherbee.

Visuals director Lealos adds creative director to his credits and will work between Los Angeles and Instanbul. Lealos will split duties across Karga Seven shows with Daniels, who has moved into a new role as creative director. Meanwhile, Hunter, formerly manager of development, has been upped to director of development.
