HGTV is chasing the simpler life with a new series from the producers of Income Property

Produced by Toronto-based RTRmedia, the 10-episode first season of Home Town will see hosts Ben and Erin Napier renovate historic homes in small towns. The new series will also delve deeper into the familial relationships at the core of each reno. In the premiere episode, the couple help a military family with three kids restore a rundown, 4,000-square-foot cottage build in 1917.

Future episodes will tap first-time homebuyers, couples with kids, and adults wishing to live closer to their grandchildren, while the duo use their skills to showcase local reclaimed materials.

“I think the trend toward finding a simpler life is happening in small towns everywhere,” said Erin Napier.

In April, 2016, realscreen sister publication Playback first reported on a content deal between RTR and HGTV, which included Home Town, alongside another series Open Conceptas well as New Orleans Reno hosted by Holly Baker.

Home Town will premiere March 21 at 10 p.m. (ET).
