The European Documentary Network (EDN) has finalized its selection of 21 documentary projects slated to participate in the Docs in Thessaloniki pitching forum, including Adrian Pîrvu‘s Our Special Birth Day (pictured), Tanya Doyle‘s The Ambush and Valentin Riedl’s Lost in Face.

The event, which consists of a five-day program running March 3 to 7 during the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival, will allow directors to develop and reformat their projects, network and pitch their documentary to a panel of international financiers.

The line-up of financiers includes commissioners and experts from PBS documentary strand ‘POV’; Germany and France’s ARTE GEIE; Finland’s YLE; Netherlands-based IKONdocs; Greece’s ERT; Swedish pubcaster SVT; Belgian film sales house Visible Film; Russian channel Currenttime.TV; and Canadian international sales agent Films Transit.

Chosen from of nearly 100 projects, this year’s selection of documentaries will investigate the bankruptcy of the Lehman Brothers and the ensuing economic crisis; explore the first post-Chernobyl generation in Ukraine; and venture to the Mediterranean Sea to document the fight of activists to recover forgotten victims of the refugee crisis.
