American cable network RLTV will premiere FEMME: Women Healing The World as the first feature in their new documentary strand, ‘Relevant Docs.’

Directed by Emmanuel Itier, the film interviews more than 100 influential women from five continents and 20 different countries who are actively transforming and healing the global community through their words and actions. The women discuss a variety of topics from religion and science to politics and entertainment and the multiple crises throughout the world and possible solutions to solving them.

A few of the prominent women interviewed for the doc include Gloria Steinem (pictured), Sharon Stone, Jean Houston, Nobel Peace Prize Laureates Shirin Ebadi and Mairead Maguire and Maria Conchita Alonso.

In a phone interview with realscreen, Elliot Jacobson, chief content officer of RLTV, said he wasn’t going to start rolling out documentaries until mid-February, but pushed the date up due to the Women’s March in Washington D.C. that took place in early January. As such, Jacobson believed it would be timely to launch FEMME under the ‘Relevant Docs’ banner, which shines a light on social issues.

With an audience that is 70% female, Jacobson said any content aired on RLTV about women, their impact on society or about gender issues resonates well with viewers. He also noted the doc features many prominent women who are over the age of 50, which aligns with their target demographic.

“A large percentage are 50-plus, and many of the names our audience are familiar with – like Susan Sontag. That resonates with them. It thematically resonates with them, and it’s people they know and follow, ” he said.

The channel will also premiere an additional slate of docs in the following weeks, including Regret from Blue Ant Media; God: That Almighty Questions from Vision Films; and Echoes ‘Cross the Tracks’ from Legacy Distribution.

Jacobson also noted that during the Realscreen Summit last week in Washington, D.C., RLTV acquired two additional films, but could not reveal further details at present.

FEMME: Women Healing The World is produced by Amanda Estremera, Sharon Stone, Dawn Zuill, Barbara Lazaroff, Andrea Barron and Celeste Yarnall and distributed by Vision Films.

FEMME: Women Healing The World premieres Feb. 5 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on RLTV.
