Toronto-based distributor 108 Media has expanded its unscripted and scripted distribution footprint to include Korea, Japan and Scandinavia.

Launched in 2011 by founder and CEO Abhi Rastogi (pictured), 108 currently distributes a stable of content across all major platforms in North America with an extensive distribution network across Asia, focusing primarily on underserved territories and emerging markets.

The company will launch its Korean strategy with integrated media and content company Play On Cast, who produce and distribute HD & UHD 4K content. Under the deal, the Canadian distribution firm will increase the sales and distribution of Play On Cast’s Korean TV drama series and 4K content for the North American marketplace.

108 Media has also secured an output deal with South Korean producer-distributor Sidus Pictures. The sales house will additionally look to extend its reach into the UK in the first quarter of 2017.

“Our¬†strategy has always been to distribute content in any genre from a wide range of media and our partnership with Play On Cast and Sidus Pictures demonstrates our commitment in fulfilling this in 2017,” Rastogi¬†said in a statement. “Our increasing global operations is represented by fantastic deals in the Korean territory and we will be closing similar deals in the European market later in the year.”
