The moves come as WOW looks to ramp up its original programming across its digital platforms and WOW Presents YouTube channel.
Radnitz (pictured, left) rejoins the company as SVP of creative and digital after a stint at NBCUniversal-owned network Bravo where he was VP of production.
Wolf (right) has been upped to COO after an eight-year tenure as VP of production, where he was responsible for launching the WOW Presents network and growing WOW’s digital business.
Smothers, meanwhile, has been lifted to SVP of talent and is tasked with managing the company’s talent relationships across both traditional and digital landscapes.
“Tom, Todd and Thairin all bring years of strategic experience and leadership that will help us meet the increasing demand from our global audience for online content,” said Randy Barbato, co-founder of World of Wonder, in a statement. “The new roles and investment in programming signify World of Wonder’s commitment to doubling down on our digital business, and we are excited to be scaling our leadership team to match this expansion.”
World of Wonder saw a surge in its online presence last year, having reached more than one millionUnique Monthly Visitors (UMV) for The WOW Report while producing 19 weekly shows for WOW Presents. The channel, which has 599,000 subscribers and 298 million total views, was up 53% in views in 2016.
The company will continue to invest in new digital programming throughout 2017, including the season nine premiere of award-winning digital series Untucked: RuPaul’s Drag Race.
Elsewhere, the Los Angeles-based production company has expanded its investment in its digital business with the commissioning of two new original series: Haus of Edwards and Detox’s Life Rehab.
The weekly unscripted Haus of Edwards series chronicles the day-to-day life of influential drag performer and RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant Justin Johnson, otherwise known as Alyssa Edwards, as she runs a diva-filled dance studio alongside drag daughter Laganja Estranja, Jay Jackson.
Detox’s Life Rehab, meanwhile, features RuPaul’s Drag Race drag performer and recording artist Detox Icunt, the stage name of Matthew Sanderson, as she offers serious life hacks. The series will also feature surprise guests who will share their secrets on how to make life easier in a time crunch.
“Our goal is to create engaging content with truly original voices across all platforms,” added World of Wonder co-founder Fenton Bailey. “Justin and Detox bring a unique combination of comedy and drama to everything they do.”
