UK network Channel 4 has ordered The Great Escapists from London-based indie Little Gem Media.

The Great Escapists (working title) aims to show audiences how to make the most of their weekends by exploring the weird and wild activities you can do in the UK.

The (1×60) commission for C4 will show viewers ways to experience holidaying at home in the UK, beyond wet walks and cream tea in Devon, featuring a range of characters.

Comedian Adam Buxton will go wild-camping on a windy Dartmoor tor and check out Devon’s one and only sustainable eco-pod campsite.

Paralympic presenter and ex-Royal Marine, Arthur Williams goes free-diving, wild swimming and sea kayaking.

And food lover Clem Green is going to learn to ride and wrangle ponies on Dartmoor, forage and cook a delicious lunch on Dartmoor’s foothills, and stay in a hand-built iron-age roundhouse.

The feature was commissioned for Channel 4 features by Tim Hancock (pictured) and Gill Wilson.

The Great Escapists will premiere this spring.
