Jane Latman, EVP of development and research with Investigation Discovery, Destination America and American Heroes Channel, is the latest executive to swap stories and industry-insider news with Jimmy Fox as part of the Unscripted and Unprepared podcast.

Produced by Fox, president of production shop Main Event Media, in partnership with realscreen, the podcast featuring Latman (pictured) is the 10th in an ongoing series and is available now via iTunes and StitcherThe interview was originally recorded several months ago. It’s airing now as Fox takes a break from his regular work duties following the birth of his second child.

Latman talks about her early career when she worked as a bartender and theater director, and how she made the leap into television after joining temp agencies that staffed for media.

“I knew nothing about television, nothing,” she tells Fox. “I can’t stress that enough.”

Her first industry role was with National Geographic, and, after leaving to craft a freelance career as an producer and writer, eventually moved to Discovery on a three-week contract.

“That turned into three months, turned into six months,” she said. Latman has now been at the network 13 years, eight of those with Investigation Discovery, where she oversees development.

Unscripted and Unprepared began in late June 2016, and has so far featured interviews with Heather Olander, senior VP of alternative programming for USA Network and Syfy; Showtime’s Vinnie Malhotra; Spike’s Sharon Levy; MGM Television’s Barry Poznick; ITV Entertainment’s David Eilenberg; Thinkfactory Media’s Leslie Greif; Propagate Content’s Ben Silverman and Reinout Oerlemans, chair of 3 Ball Entertainment.

Fox’s credits include the Emmy-nominated CNN series United Shades of America, CNBC’s Make Me a Millionaire Inventor and Investigation Discovery’s Is O.J. Innocent: The Missing Evidence.

At Main Event Media, Fox produces a raft of series under the Main Event banner, including Spike’s true-crime series It Was Him: The Many Murders of Ed Edwards, as well as the previously announced unscripted comedy, Hollywood Darlings for POP.
