UK broadcaster Channel 4 has commissioned Reef Television for Village of the Year with Penelope Keith.

In this series (24 x 60), actress Penelope Keith — who previously hosted the series Penelope Keith’s Hidden Villages for C4 — scours Britain’s villages in search of crowning one the winner of her search. From coastal villages to hillside farming communities, the show celebrates the greatness of UK’s rural communities.

Keith will preside over the heats, as a panel of expert judges decide which villages will progress through the rounds before revealing their winner. The villages are judged on are appearance, history and heritage, village events, activities and visitor experience.

The judges will award their chosen village with the title of Village of the Year and £10,000 (US$12, 400) towards a community project.

Village of the Year with Penelope Keith commissioning editors at C4 are David Sayer and Lizi Wootton.
